Intimate Detachments is live improvisation butoh performance that primarily
uses vocals, sound sampling and interactive video through 2 separate
channels- experienced through speakers within the space and through one
and only pair of headphones.
The performance disengages the
audience's senses isolating the audio and visual experience, examining
the synthesis between image and sound, and as well as the relationship
between the spectator, performer and the space.
The performers
are also handicapped- they can only hear the sound output via the
speakers but not the live improvisation- even their own- which can only
be heard by one member of the audience at a time.
